The world’s biggest cloud event…
60 thousand participants…
One single goal to rule them all…
To stay on top of the IT industry! 👑
AWS re:Invent is the premier event for cloud computing, AI, and machine learning innovations. Participants from all over the world meet here to gain inspiration, connect, and grow.
As a leader in IT, NIX has also attended the conference. Three specialists represented our team, and one of the technical experts, Moath Abu Hamad, Senior Developer shared his insights.
The conference was held in December and lasted for 5 days. We spent every day at the venue from morning till evening. There were thousands of workshops, lectures, booths, and entertainment, and I wanted to attend as much as possible. The experience was intense yet incredibly rewarding, exceeding all my expectations. We also had an unlimited supply of coffee to keep us going.
Read on to find out the most memorable moments of the conference, what knowledge our experts gained, and how it will benefit our team! ✨
Connection
Networking was a key part of the event. The conference had a mobile application that also functioned as a calendar so participants could organize meetings. Many clients invited the NIX team to discuss new solutions so we can better help them and strengthen our relationship.
As an AWS Advanced Partner, the NIX brand is the bridge between clients and AWS services. Our goal is to help them optimize their processes and find financially sustainable solutions. This event was a great opportunity to learn more about new options and tools from AWS’s side, but also to understand more of our clients’ needs.
Along the way, our team connected with other partners and potential clients, exploring exciting business opportunities. Of course, we came prepared—sharing brochures and offering a free Well-Architected Framework Review. Basically, to review others’ solutions for free, to generate new leads, and connect with new potential partners.
The event organizers supported networking with receptions at restaurants and bars so attendees could walk around in the open space and connect with decision-makers. 🥂
Sometimes, these programs revolved around certain regions like Europe or the Middle East, while other times, they focused on specific business domains.
The one-on-one meetings were especially popular among partners and clients. These allowed for deeper conversations and stronger relationship-building compared to bars where the music and other distractions could be disturbing.
Growth
Thanks to the great organization, participants could focus their time on the programs that were most beneficial to them. Most workshops and lectures focused on very specific topics and technologies so experts could dive deep and gain useful knowledge.
The sessions on solution architecture were the most impactful for me. I’ve been passionate about this field for a long time but haven’t actively pursued it as a career path. AWS re:Invent provided the motivation and clarity I needed to make the transition.
Since returning, I’ve initiated discussions with department leaders and am eager to step into a Solution Architect role at NIX, where I can apply my skills and continue growing.
Besides this, I also enjoyed the keynote speaker, Dr. Werner Vogels, Amazon.com CTO. He talked about managing complexity and focusing on simplicity when it comes to evolving systems so they don’t grow out of control. Or as Werner described it, “Simplexity”.
I also liked the smaller breakout sessions. For example, I attended one about generative AI in the workplace, and what it meant for productivity, ethics, and management.
All in all, it was one of the best weeks of my life. I had a lot of fun and gained a ton of new knowledge and information.
He worked really hard to get where he is today, and his projects at NIX allowed him to discover his passion for solution architecture. We wish to see everyone succeed and grow in the directions they love, and that’s also why knowledge sharing is one of our key values. ❤️
Moath will soon organize a lecture for the JavaScript Department, where he will share the information he learned. This way, everyone can benefit from the trip, and our NIX community can grow and improve together. 🚀
You can grow with us, too! 🔥
If you are not part of NIX yet, this is your chance to apply for one of our vacancies. Join our team and enjoy the high-level expertise and the supportive environment!
